The mining will occur in two phases which are called Cell A and
Cell B on the Mining Plan. Mining will commence at the south end
of Cell A and work northward toward the processing plan. The two
cells are separated by a dike constructed"of overburden material.
This dike is placed in order to control the water level between
the two cells.
Initially the overburden material will be stockpiled along the
edge of Cell A as shown on the Mining Plan. After this first
mining cut is established, overburden material can then be
recycled immediately in constructing the 3:1 side slopes and also
in constructing the dike. These initial soil stockpiles will be
aligned with the flow of the river in order to prevent any change
in the floodplain characteristics. The earth moving will be done
using scrapers and front end loaders. Topsoil will be removed
and stockpiled separately from the overburden.
Disturbance associated with the mining is classified as follows:
Major Disturbance
Mining 8.0
Stripped 3.0
Topsoil Stockpiles 1.0
Overburden Stockpiles 2.0
Moderate Disturbance
Plant Site, Office, and Scale House 12.0_
Access Road 1.0
Minor Disturbance
Reclaimed and Seeded 1.0
Reseeding Year 2 0.5
TOTAL DISTURBED ACREAGE 29.5
We estimate that between 6 and 10 acres will be mined each year.
The Mining Plan calls for the site to be mined out 1n 8 to 13
years. The reclamation will occur concurrently with the mining.
Equipment used for mining will be: Scraper for stripping; Front
end loader for mining; portable conveyor system.
Processing equipment will include= Screen; Crusher; Sand Washer;
Front End Loader.
The finished product will be delivered directly to the ready mix
concrete plant or to customers who will haul it away.
D-2
