The C factor, the cover and management factor, is the ratio of soil
loss from an area with specified cover end management to that from en identical area in
tilled continuous fallow.
The P factor, the support practice factor, is the ratio of soil loss with a support
practice like contouring, strip cropping, or terracing [o that with straight-row farming
up end down the slope.
The C factor wea determined based on the vegetation description in Tab 10 end with the aid
of the USDA-ARS revised LISLE software program for each rover type within the overall
drainage area. The P factor is based on current or future pra ctice. Table s 13-3C-8 to
73-3C-70 shows the weighted average results for the C end P facto rs for the various
aubwatersheds.
TABLE 73-3C-8
Yeighted CP Factor
Pond 005 - SYS-1

Veneration Tyoe CP Aree (acJ CP x Aree
Aspen 0.001 7.4 0.007
Mixed Brush 0.003 27.6 0.083
Sagebrush 0.003 7.5 0.023
Topsoil Stockpile 0.05 5.5 0.990
Disturbed/Spoil 0.500 120.7 60.350
Total 168.7 61.453
Yeighted Average CP = 61.453 = 0.365
168.7
•

Based on vegetation type
discussed
in Tab 10. •
13-3-10 Revised 08/11/92
