rvnys. Elevation ranges from 4,800 to ;'i,G00 feet. Slopes
are 0 to 1 percent. The native vegetation is sedges,
bluegrass, timothy, and other water-tolerant grasses
aad fortis. Mean annual precipitation ranges from 13
to 15 inches, mean annual air temperature ranges from
48° to 50° P', and the frost-fi•ee season ranges from
13b to 1S0 days.
In a representative profile the surface layer is gray
and grayish brown fine s.uuly loam about 30 inches
thick. The subsoil is light brownish gray fine sandy
loam about 30 inches thick.
Permeability is moderately rapid, and the available
water capacity is high. Reaction is moderately alkaline.
These soils are used mainly for hay and grazing. A
few areas are used for irrigated crops and pasture.
areas of Loveland, Caruso, and Paoli soils.
Runoff is slow, and the hazard of erosion is slight.
If irrigated, this soil is suited do pasture and hay.
