2.04.8(1)(a)
Precipitation patterns are not obvious for the area. Percipitation
• has been lowest between May and November, especially between June
and October; yet considerable precipitation has fallen during
each of these months in one year or another. All months but
November have received more than two inches at least in some
years. Precipitation during April and June is most variable;
the range between their maximum and minimum values (U.S. Deparment
of Commerce, N.O.A.A. Environmental Data Service.)
(b) Average direction and velocity of prevailing winds. There
are no meteorological monitoring stations and therefore, no
data accumulation for the area of the Bear r^.ine. Because of
the extreme topographical influence on the wind flows over
the area of the Bear i4ine the direction of the prevailing wind
varies with the time of the day. The direction in the morning
is basically southeast. The afternoon is northwest. The
evening is again southeast. Refer to Figures 2.04.8(1)(b)-1,
2.04.8(1)(b)-2 and 2.04.8(1)(b)-3 for wind roses recorded by ARCO.
•
Information presented below was obtained by ARCC at three (3)
sites established within one-quarter mile of the Bear Mine.
Data is for the Period March 1, 1977 through August 31, 1977, and
is presented in Table 2.04.8(1)(b).
(c) Mean Monthly Temperature.
Table 2.04.8(1)(c) below shows the temperature data collected
as part of the ARCO program referred to in (1)(b) above.
As data is accumulated and becomes available, the data will be
presented to the D1LR Board for attachment to the file containing
this application.
Section 2.04.9 Soils Resource Information
• (1) This is an underground mine. Refer to Drawing 2.04.3(2)(a)-1,
Existing Land Use, to determine the extent of surface disturbance.
The total disturbed area is approximately 19.3 acres.
5-63
