2.04.7(3)
(3) Alternative Water Supply Information.
• Historically, the mine has had no measureable effect on the
surface or underground water resources within the permit
area. Future operations will be essentially the same as
past, therefore no contamination, diminution or interruption
of the water resources will occur. ..^.efer to Sections 2.04.7(1) and 2.04.7(2);
and the tables showing monitoring of flews.
Section 2.04.8 Climatological Information
(1)(a) Aiean monthly precipitation.
The mine study area generally receives 16 inches of precipitation
between October and April. The May - September precipitation is
generally 8 inches. These two precipitation patterns result in
a normal annual precipitation of 25 inches near Somerset.
Percipitation data are available from the Wilcox Ranch Station
• (Iat. 38° 55' N and Long. 107° 31' [•7), the climatic data station closest to the
Mt. Gunnison No. 1 Mine Study area. This station is east of
Bowie on the north side of the North Fork of the Gunnison River
in the Hubbard Creek Drainage. Figure 2.04.8(1)(a)-1 presents the mean
monthly precipitation and annual mean precipitation data for 12
to 13 years prior to 1954.
An average cf 18.45 inches of precipitation was received at the
Wilcox Ranch (Figure 2.04.8(1)(a)-1). Greatest average precipitation
is recorded in April (2.08 inches) and the least in September
(0.85 inches). The maximum monthly precipitation fell during
April (4.52 inches), with June (4.15 inches) and January
(4.02 inches) recording similar maxima. Sven October (3.90
inches) and August (3.82 inches) have recorded substantial
amounts of precipitation. ??ovember has a lower maximum recorded
precipitation than any other month.
r1
U
The [•:ilcox :ranch figure of 18.45 incfies of. precipitation will.
