2.04.7 (1) (a) (i) (ii)
area is largely confined to the t~esaverde Formation. This
formation consists of sandstone, shale, clay, and interbedded
coal as shown on Figure 2.04.6(2)(a)-1. The individual rock
units composing the Piesaverde Formation are not continuous.
Flork completed to date by ARCO indicates that groundwater
movement probably occurs horizontally through predominantly
sandstone zones and vertically within fractures present within
the various sandstone layers. Permeabilities within the
sandstones may vary from a fraction of one millidarcy to as
much as 10 millidarcies.
Preliminary pump tests, by ARCO, were run in cased and uncased
holes (SOt: C 76A, SOM 22-Y.-2, SOP'-64, and SOti-55) in the Barren
Member. Pump tests were also run in the "F" seam in wells
SOPS C76, SOti C76A, SOM 23-H-3, and SOM C35 (Exhibit 2.8.1.C).
Transmissivity values were estimated from Lohman 1975. The well
yield in the Barren Piember ranged from 0.003 gpm/ft to 0.005
gpm/ft. and was 0.012 gpm/ft. in the "F" coal seam. Transmissivity
values in the "F" coal seam were calculated to be 16.68 gpd/ft
and 2.46 gpd/ft in the Barren 2.lember. The transmissivity, well
• yield, and pumping rate data from these tests are shown on
Table 2.04.7(1)(a)(ii)-12 indicates that the sands in the Earren
5-11
REVISED PSay 15, 1981
