EXHIBIT D
MINING PLAN
The proposed mining site is located on an alluvial fan above the Lake Fork of the San Miguel
River in San Miguel County, Colorado. The property is currently forest along the west side
of State Highway 145, south and west of Telluride, Colorado. The property owners wish to
produce aggregate materials for use. in their development, and for sale to outside markets.
The total area to be mined is approximately eight (8) acres.
The pace of mining of this area will be based on market demand in the Telluride area. The
mining is expected to be completed in approximately thirty (30) years.
This will be a dry mining operation using front-end loaders and bulldozers to remove. the
resource. Dewatering will not be required at this site, as the groundwater in this area is over
200 feet below the surface. The site will be. mined to an average depth of 40 feet below the
existing grade depending on the. existing topography. No permanent ponds for water will be
created during the mining operation.
All access to the site. will be. on existing roads. The applicant has a current highway access
permit in this area to allow access to the abandoned railroad grade which has been converted
to an access way into the mining area and beyond. All existing roads at the site will be
improved and left in place following mining activities. All mining equipment will be kept on
site.. A small trailer for an office. will be placed on site and removed when mining is
completed.
Topsoil and overburden will be stripped and stockpiled adjacent to Highway ]45, for
reclamation uses and to help provide a visual and safety barrier from traffic on the highway.
Once the resource has been removed, the topsoil and overburden will be replaced to an even
depth of 4 to 6 inches over the disturbed areas. Surplus topsoil may be sold.
Mining will begin at the west side of the site. A work pad of sufficient size to safely operate
the equipment will be constructed adjacent to the access road. Aggregate extraction will
progress uphill towards the State. Highway. No distinct phases of operation are planned for
this site.
Crushing to produce. specification aggregate may occur on-site.. Material will be delivered to
an off-site batch plant or used directly as road base material.
Reclamation of the area will be done following the removal of the needed resource. The
overburden and topsoil will be replaced and graded to allow the property owners to reclaim
the area for future homesite development.
Due to the topographic constraints of the site, it is not anticipated that a significant amount of
concurrent reclamation will be accomplished at this site. The operator will make all best
efforts to reduce the chances of environmental impacts caused by this operation.
D-]
