# 121 Ustic Torreorthents-Sedillo complex. No soil pits were excavated
within this soils unit.
# 122 Wages Loam. Soil samples within this unit show that A and B
horizons fall within the "good" rating for pH, electrical conductivity
(EC), saturation percent (SP) and sodium adsorption ratio (SAR). Soil
texture class is sandy loam and sandy clay loam.
Stockpiled Topsoil. Several topsoil stockpiles were sampled in 1979 in
the northwest corner of the disturbance area. Soil pH ranged from 4.30
to 6.92, giving ratings of poor to good. EC, SP and SAR were all good.
Soil texture is sandy clay loam and sandy loam.
Suitability Evaluation - Loadout Area
This suitability analysis concentrates on soils to be disturbed within the
Loadout area. The sample locations evaluated are those identified in the
1983 Coal Loadout Expansion report. Analyses from the Roper report were
not included in this evaluation, as sample locations were not definitely
known and lab reports were difficult to interpret. Because samples were
not designated by horizon, the top one (1) foot of soil was considered
available for salvage and retopsoiling. The original Loadout area was not
sampled, as it was disturbed prior to 1979.
The seven (7) samples evaluated were all rated good for pH, electrical
conductivity, and sodium adsorption ratio. Saturation percent and texture
class were not analyzed. Clay content ranged from 5 to 17 percent. The
samples were analyzed for iron, manganese, copper and zinc. Iron ranged
from 1.90 to 5.72 ppm, manganese from 1.42 to 5.12 ppm, copper from 1.00
to 3.68 ppm, and zinc from 0.23 to 9.18 ppm. All analysis values are
considered low levels. Therefore, these soils should pose np problems
relative to reclamation. Minimum, maximum, and mean values along with
calculated standard deviation are presented on Table 27, Statistical
Evaluation -Topsoil Suitability.
2.04.9-27
