Forbs <br />present include: little sunflower, AeliantheZla uniflora; <br />sulfurflower, Eriogon:~m umbeZZatum; and yarrow. <br />1.4 Endangered and Threatened Species <br />~ William S9eber, Curator of the Herbarium, University <br />of Colorado, verified the identity of all vascular plants <br />( collected on the study site and adjacent areas. These <br />,~ plants have been preserved in a reference collection. The <br />majority of plants are identified to the species level. <br />The taxonomic characteristics of many plants had deter- <br />iorated due to the late sampling period, and thus, could be <br />identified only to the genus level. <br />None of the plants identified to species appears on <br />the U.S. Department of Interior's "Endangered and Threatened <br />Species (Plants)"* as published in the Federal Register, <br />* Endangered plants are those species in danger of <br />extinctio:, throughout all or a significant portion <br />of their ranges. Existence may be endangered because <br />of the destruction, drastic modifications, or severe <br />curtailment of habitat, or because of overexploi- <br />- tation, disease, predation, or even unknown reasons. <br />.
