-• -15-
.-
• PILLAR DESIGN - 2ND EAST SECTION
The final pillar design exercise wos for the deeper northeast end of the 2nd
' '"" Eost Section of the Roadside Mine. This design was performed using the nearby 2nd
East physical properties and the overall properties for the Cameo "8" seam. The
results of this analysis are presented on Figures S and 6 and in Table 6.
The pillar sizes recommended ore again based on equalling the calculated minimum
. - factor of safety for the pillars in Panel "G " The recommended pillar widths are 12
ft to a depth of 290 ft, 14 ft between 290 and 480 ft of depth and 16 ft between
• 480 and 1000 ft of depth. These pillar design widths can be read-0ff from Figure 5
by entering the Yaxis with the 1.58 factor of safety (Table 2) for Panel "G" and the
same @ = 45.5' and ao = 785 psi. On the other hand general pillar design properties
i • can be used and the factor of safety of I.70, derived from applying general pillar
~ properties in Panel "G" analysis (Table 2), entered into Figure 6. The differences are
really minor, i.e. going to a depth of 500 ft instead of 480 ft for an equal factor of
safety.
•
