3.0 PCC NUCLA WATER-SUPPLY REQUIREMENTS
An industrial-water supply is needed for use during
mining and reclamation, and for use as an augmentation
supply. Estimates of the quantities of water required were
obtained from several sources. PCC determined the water
requirements for dust suppression and constrvction compaction
make-vp water for the NOCLA and NUCLA EAST mining areas.
.Inflow from the overburden aquifer into the NUCLA EAST pit,
_ and the resulting water=level change (which may impact water
rights and require augmentation) were calculated by GeoTrans,
inc. using data supplied by PCC. Evaporative losses from
existing and proposed ponds were determined by GEOTRANS.
It is our understanding that the NUCLA mining area does
• not have to be irrigated following reclamation, whereas PCC
is required to return the NUCLA EAST area to its premining
land use and may need to provide water for irrigation.
However, as existing water rights will not be impacted or use
of the water changed, irrigation-water requirements will, not
be addressed further in this report.
3.1 OPERATIONAL REQIIIREMENTS
During the mining phase, PCC's water-supply requirements
are in two major use categories, municipal and industrial.
14
GEOTRANS, INC.
•
REVISED MARCH 2006 Attachment 2.65.3(3}16-59
