• 3. WATER LEVELS AND CONFIGURATION
Although pit pumping has kept the levels of Pond 007 high over the pass 7 years, the
drainage area is large enough that the pond will hold water for at least 30-45 days longer
per year than the intermittent Calamity Draw which is located immediately to the south of
Pond 007. Also, these is no other stock pond within a reasonable vicinity to this pond.
Levels will be maintained by securing the low orifice which was used during operation for
pond dewatering. Water will build up behind the 5"' Street embankment and allowed to flow
in the 42" and 48" CMP's which are located just below 5`" Street, which connect both
partitions of the pond. This will allow water to build up to a level of 15 feet to the primary
spillway pipe on the southern partition of the pond, as shown on Map 2.05.3(3)2-1. This
map shows the plan view and cross section of the as built Pond 007. As is seen in the cross
section, the lower portion of the pond (south of 5T'' Street) will have a depth of approximately
15 feet from the bottom to the primary spillway CMP pipe. It is expected that water levels
wil{ likely average 3-10 feet for at least 30-45 days longer in a given year than water exists
• ~ in Calamity Draw.
4. SAFETY AND ACCESS FOR LIVESTOCK
The landowner of Pond 007 is San Miguel Power Association. They intend to allow cattle
grazing on the irrigated pasture. As is seen from the plan view of the pond in Map
2.05.3(3)2-1, cattle will have free access to the pond from the property. The slopes around
the pond are mild and typically average 4H:1 V, which is very easy for cattle to negotiate.
Cattle will be allowed to access both partitions of Pond 007. The 5~" Street ROW will remain
as shown on the Map but this road is not complete to 2700 Road and will have very little
traffic. No fencing is contemplated at this time because it is not needed.
•
REVISED MARCH 2006 Attachment 2.05.3(3)-16-5
