Abstract
On November 17, 1977, pedestrian survey of four proposed drill hole locations,
a pivposed mining waste disposal area, a power plants and several nearby areas was
conducted by Gordon and Kran:ush -Archaeological Consultants for SJestern Slope Car-
bon, Incorporated in Tovmship 13 South Range 90 4fest, Sections 1, 10~ 11, and 12 of
Gurmison County and To:mship 14 South, Pange 92 41est , Section 2 of Delta County,
Colorado. Finds included a prehistoric isolated find (flake), an historic isolated
find (bottle), a prehistoric locality (four fla'.tes), aad the remains oS the Town
of Oliver and Olivert•fine operations. These finds are discussed in the section of
this report entitled "Inventory Results". IJo materials located were deemed eligible
for nomination to the tlational Register of Historic Places, and no inpact to pre-
viously recorded sites is anticipated. Conditional clearance pendis~ completion of
an Historical American Engineering Record for the Oliver Power Plant is recornended.
Unconditional clearance is reco.^iended for all other project areas. All recommer~a-
tions are discussed in the section of this report entitled "Conclusions and Reconmenda-
tions".
