• The area referred to as the Water Storage Tank Area consists of a
rectangular graveled pad of approximately .5 acres with two water
storage tanks and a water treatment plant. The tanks and building
occupy 35$ of the area of the pad. The drainage off the pad is
generally away from the tanks at a maximum of 2.2$. The
sedimentation study was modelled using SEDCAD 3+.
The SEDCAD parameters used for the model are as follows:
Area of structures: .19 ac.
Area of graveled pad: .35 ac.
Land use factor: 7, sheet flow
Runoff curves: structures, 98 pad, 91
Erodibility factors, K: structures, 0.0 ; gravel pad, 0.1
Control practice factors: structures, 0.0, as these have steel
roofs ; gravel pad with some dirt showing, 0. 1, determined from
conversations with SEDCAD authors.
Event: 10 year, 24 hour event, 1.6" rainfall.
The SEDCAD modelling shows that the effluent from the water storage
tank pad contains less than the 0.5 ml/L of settleable solids. This
will exempt this area from any additional sediment control.
