EXHIBIT E
• RECLAMATION PLAN
The land around the MARVEL PIT area is exclusively used as open range
land. The affected area's close proximity to this range land substantiates the
reclamation plan of returning this land to open range usage.
Because of the surrounding topography, preparation of slopes for drainage
purposes will not be a problem. Grading and sloping will be accomplished so
as to best prevent erosion of soils and care will be taken while shaping slopes
to create diversions so that excess water above the site will not be allowed
to flow onto or across the site.
Slopes in the pit will be shaped by a crawler type tractor equipped with
a dozer blade. These slopes will be shaped with a maximum slope of 3:1 where
possible. Areas steeper than 3:1 shall be kept at a minimum.
• All available top soil at the site will be spread on the affected area
to compliment seeding procedures. Seeding plans, including types, mixtures,
quantities and expected times of seeding, shall follow the guide sheet pre-
pared by the Soil Conservation Service (See Exhibit D) except that if the
County decides to broadcast seed the affected area, the rates reccmmended for
the drilling method will be doubled.
La Plata County will cooperate as much as possible with the 1':ined Land
Reclamation Board's staff if it is believed that certain shrub species should
be added to the list of seed.
Reclamation of access roads will not be a problem since the pit is ad-
i
jacent to a County road right-of-way. ~~

DEC 3 C 1977
MINED LAND F~:.LA~bi~TiON
Colo.
