<br />• <br />Attachment A - Special Conditions <br />1. The pit will be excavated to a maximum depth of ten feet to minimize <br />the visual impact. No stockpiling of gravel will be allowed at the <br />site. <br />2. All debris will be removed from the site after operations cease in the <br />fall of each year. Equipment shall be parked in a localized area and <br />in an orderly manner. <br />3. All available topsoil and other suitable plant growth material shall be <br />stockpiled no higher than 8 feet above ground level. These stockpiles shall <br />be seeded to prevent wind erosion. The seed mixture shall contain the <br />following species on a per acre basis' Ephraim crested wheatgrass @ 3 lbs., <br />western wheatgrass @ 3 lbs., and yellow sweetclover @ 1 lb. <br />4. During operations on the Free Use permit, the permittee or his contractors <br />shall not knowingly disturb, alter, destQ~ly, or take any fossils of <br />scientific value that may be discovered. <br />5. The permittee or his contractors shall immediately cease all operations <br />upon discovery of fossils of scientific value and immediately notify the <br />authorized officer. The BLM shall evaluate the situation within 48 hours. <br />The BLt4 may negotiate additional time if mutually agreeable between the <br />BLM and the permittee. <br />6. The recovery of any fossils of scientific value discovered during operations <br />shall be borne by the operator. <br />7. Operations will cease on October 31, 1989, and the site will be reclaimed. <br />The sides of the pit shall then be graded to a 3:1 slope and topsoil <br />shall be replaced. <br />8. A seed mixture approved by BLM shall be sowed in the fall of 1989. The <br />recommended seed mixture is as follows: <br />Western wheatgrass - 4 lbs/acre <br />Sand dropseed - 2 lbs/acre <br />Indian ricegrass - 2 lbs/acre <br />Ephraim crested wheatgrass - 4 lbs/acre <br />blue grama - 1 16/acre <br />yellow sweetclover - 1 lb/acre <br />9. Grazing will be deferred for a minimum of two years after seeding, or <br />when vegetative cover is sufficient. At this time, the fence shall be <br />removed. <br />10. 'the Bureau of Land Management will be notified before any reclamation <br />work commences so that an inspector can be at the site. <br />11. The Bureau of Reclamation will insure that the contractor receives a copy <br />of this document and accepts and understands the conditions described <br />therein. <br />
