Item No. 5 VT4ision of Water Resources CommenTs
(I) The maximum depth of the pit will be thirty feet. The well at the
industrial site on the North has a pump setting of about 95 feet. The main
well at the ranch home near the Northwest corner of the pit area has a pump
set at about 100 feet. The other two wells are in excess of 30 feet deep -
exact data is not available.
As the mining operation progresses to the North the ground water
will be monitored and records kept. This will be done at six month intervals
or less, as necessary, There is a well on the 5 acre office and plant tract
at the North end of the pit area. This well is the most practical point of
drawdown measurement as it is closer than the other wells.
The dewatering will have very little effect on the ground water level
because, (a.) only a small area will be dewatered at one time, (b.) adjacent
previously mined area will be kept full which will tend to maintain a high
water table, and (c.) observation of water levels in adjacent excavated areas -
full and empty -with an intervening berm indicate slow horizontal water movement
and suggest a very short drawdown curve.
(2) No water is used for washing gravel or other processing. The spray
bars for dust control are supplied by the well for which a permit has been obtained.
(3) Assuming that the evaporation loss is as suggested, the ditch right owned by
the applicant is still adequate to cover losses.
Page 9
