The surface disturbance will be the removal of the
vegetation, removal and/or relocation of the overburden
soils, and the removal of the subsurface crystalline rock.
There is virtually no vegetation in this area except a
sparse growth of native grasses and a few isolated bushes,
both of which their growth is limited by the lack of water.
The surface soils, or overburden, is a finely divided, non-
cohesive, silty soil, which varies in depth from virtually
nothing to several feet. The subsurface material is des-
cribed on the U.S. Geological Survey Map No. I-928, "Geology
of the Sedimentary Rocks of the Morrison Quadrar..gle, Colo.",
as "Crystalline Rocks of the Precambrian Period".
2. Other than visual appearance for the duration of.` the
quarrying processes, there is nothing to indicate that
there will be any affect on any enviromental resources.
There are a few deer that habit the area, and iii spite
of recent activities they appear not to be disturbed.
Surface water is only that which is generated during
the Spring run-off and the occasional rains. Tkiere
is evidence of a few intermittent springs, which have
limited flow during the spring of each year. Neither
the surface water nor the spring flow will be a:~fected
by the quarry operation. Several years ago two wells
were drilled in the immediate vicinity, in a futile
attempt to develop a source of ground water, co~zsequently,
the apparent lack of sub-surface water preclude,a any
possibility of disturbance of this possible resource.
