inches of soil cover is adecuate for revegegation. The pad
faces will then be revegetated (this will occur very early in
the project). The resulting slopes will meet all Lhe stan-
dards of permanently reclaimed slopes, and will improve Lhe
appearance of the mine and r.aduce visual impact as a result.
7. At reclamation, it is proposed that the tunnels will be
plugged, rock placed on the pads, and the ground-surface
returned to approximately original contours, and the 16 inch
topsoil cover be applied to the remaining surfaces. RevegeCa-
tion to project standards would complete the reclamation
(Figures 9.9-1 and 2).
In summary, the proposed use of the portal pads for the disposal of
the small amount of mine waste that is developed during the driving
of the tunnels meets all of the standards for tl~e disposal of
underground mine waste as set out in the regulations, specifically
safety, stability, protection of groundwater and surface water
resources, and protection against combustion.
9.3.'7 Blasting
NCIG will not conduct any surface blasting operations since the
portals have been completed.
NCIG - Coal Ridge #1 4-52 ABC/1145/910509
l J

•
