RECOMMENDED MONITORING PROGRAM
Due to the marginal stability conditions present on the site, and
the potential for intermittent periods of instability, it is
recommended that the monitoring system installed during the site
investigations be maintained during the life of the mine and for
a period of one year after reclamation, to establish that stable
conditions prevail. The elements of this monitoring system
consists of:
o Water level measurements in the four piezometers
installed within site borings.
o Periodic surveying of slope monuments for determining
slope movements.
It is recommended that monitoring during the operational phase
~ begin on a weekly basis, with extension of the monitoring
interval as may be appropriate after sufficient baseline data has
been collected. Monitoring during reclamation and post-
reclamation phases should be quarterly unless results of
monitoring show signs of instability. If this occurs, then
~ monitoring frequency should be increased.
we hope this report has provided you with all of the information
~ you required and that it has been presented in an understandable
way. Should any of the points be unclear, or should you require
additional information, please do not hesitate to contact our
1 office. It should also be pointed out that because of the nature
of the data obtained by random sampling of such variable and non-
1 homogeneous materials as soil and rock, it is important that we
be informed of any differences observed between the surface and
• subsurface conditions encountered during reclamation, and those
13
t
