RECLAMATION CONDITIONS
Several options are available for creation of astable (Factors
of Safety greater than 1.3) reclaimed slope. These options
consist of
o Option 1 - Backfill against the highwall at the mine
portal with slopes of 27 degrees or less.
j o Option 2 - Partial backfill against the lower portions
' of the highwall to contain rock fall and minor
regrading of upslope colluvial material.
o Option 3 - Partial backfill against the lower portions
of the highwall with surface stabilization and
mechanical support of the rock in the upper portions of
the highwall.
In all cases the existing bench fill area below the portal bench
will be regraded to a slope of 25 degrees or less with
utilization of a cut and fill balance approach.
Option 1
• Option 1, which is characterized by compacted fill against
the highwall at slopes of 27 degrees or less, has been shown to
I be stable (Factors of Safety greater than or equal to 1.3).
Information on the stability conditions of this option are
presented in the stability/sensitivity section and shown
1 graphically on Figure 5. The total fill required for this option
was estimated to be:
I o 40,000 cubic yards for the bench area, and
0 20,000 and 19,700 cubic yards for excavation and fill
volumes, respectively, below the bench area.
~•
11
