Aaberg Series - Contd. <br />• Clca 32-35"--Light yellowish brown (2.SY 6/4) silty clay, light <br />yellowish brown (2.SY 6/4) moist; moderate coarse angular <br />• blocl~y structure; very hard, very firm, very sticky, very <br />plastic; calcareous, moderately alkaline; abrupt wavy <br />boundary. <br />C2r -35"--Soft shale bedrock. <br />Range in Characteristics. Thickness of the A horizon ranges from 2 to 6 <br />inches. Depth to visible line ranges from 20 to 35 inches. Hard sand- <br />stone and shale fragments averaging 1/2 inch in length range from 0 to 20 <br />percent in the C horizon. <br />The A horizon has hue of 2.SY through lOYR, value 4 or 5 dry, 3 or 4 <br />moist, and chrome of 2 or 3. B horizon has hue of 2.SY through lOYR, <br />value 5 or 6 dry, 4 through 6 moist, and aroma of 2 or 3. The C horizon <br />has hue of SY through lOYR, value 5 through 7 dry, 4 through 6 moist, and <br />• chrome of 3 or 4. Reaction ranges from neutral to moderately alkaline. <br />• <br />Absher Series (5) <br />The Absher series is a member of the fine, montmorillonitic family <br />of Borollic Natrargids. <br />Typical Pedon: Absher silty clay <br />A2 0- 2"--Light brownish gray (2.SY 6/2) loam, very dark grayish <br />brown, (2.SY 3/2) moist; moderate very thin platy struc- <br />ture parting to moderate very fine and fine granules; <br />soft, very friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; <br />many very fine and fine roots; many very fine and fine <br />pores; many unstained sand grains; neutral (pH 6.61; <br />abrupt wavy boundary.
