Yampa Series - Contd. <br />• IlCcag 21-30"--21 to 30 inches; gray (2.SY 6/1) very gravelly, heavy <br />sandy loam~or light loam, dark gray (2.SY 4/1) when moist; <br />• massive; the horizon is slightly hard dry, very friable <br />moist, there are many large distinct 2.SY 4/4 and 2.SY 8/2 <br />mottles; approximately 60 percent gravel; this is a moder- <br />ate ca horizon with visible calcium carbonate occurring as <br />concretions, in thin seams and streaks, and as coatings on <br />the gravel fragments; calcareous, pH 8.2; gradual wavy <br />boundary. <br />C2cag 30-60"plus--Gray or light gray (SY 6/1) very gravelly, heavy, <br />sandy loam or light, sandy clay loam, gray (SY 5/1) when <br />moist; massive; the horizon is slightly hard dry, very <br />friable moist; many large prominent 2.SY 4/4 mottles; <br />approximately 60 to 70 percent gravel; a weak ca horizon <br />with visible secondary calcium carbonate occurring as <br />concretions, in thin seams and streaks, and as coatings on <br />• the gravel fragments; calcareous, pH 8.0. <br />• Range in Characteristics: The mollic epipedon is 10 to 18 inches thick, <br />and depth to lime ranges from 15 to 40 inches. There is no bedrock above <br />40 inches, and the solum is 20 to 40 inches thick. The texture of the <br />solum is a loam or light clay loam. <br /> <br />
