Jory ~r
RE: Specification Aggregates
DATE: December 8, 1976
November 23, 1976, the Board approved the conversion o£ Specification
Aggregates' existing permit to a "life of the mine" permit. Con,>idera-
tion of the bond amount was continued to the December 16 meeting.
The staff has discussed the bond requirements with the operator ;ind
the City of Golden. As a condition of the variance granted by t'1e
City of Golden to the operator for the mining operation, a $150,000.00
bond must be posted with the State. The amount was set at $150,~~o0.O0
in 1972 because the Golden Board of Adjustments felt the $66,000.00
bond, the operator previously had, was insufficient.
Staff Recommendations:
In consultation with City officials and the operator, the staff
would recommend that the bond be established at $150,000.00 and
be reviewed in 1980 or 1981 when the operator plans to amend his
permit.

JWJ:ms
