the trailer. The location is shown on Map 24, Surface Facilities. In 1995, a temporary office trailer with
dimensions of 24 x 66 x 12 feet was leveled and blocked south of the administration building. There were no water
and sewer hook-ups, and a 40-foot long buried conduit brought in power from an existing transformer. The
location is delineated on Map 24. Bonding calculations addressing the temporary office trailer are presented on
page 2.05-54(f)58.
Parking for the administrative staff and miners is located east of the bathhouses. In order to accommodate the
parking requirement of the mine's employees, the layout of the parking area has been modified as shown on Map
24. As shown on the map, parking islands will be constructed throughout the pazking area. The islands will have
crabs made out of railroad track and concrete pedestal structures. The pedestals will have outlet boxes for
providing electric service in the pazking area. The pedestals will have a concrete base (approximately 1 cubic foot)
and the electrical service extending upward from the base. Also, it is anticipated that either one or two lights will
be placed in each island.
Three additional parking islands were permitted in 1995 and are shown on Map 24. The new parking islands are
consistent in design with the existing islands. There aze two parking islands per line of cars. Each island is
equipped with 8 electrical receptacles hung on a one-rail structure supported by an oblong railroad rail base.
Bonding calculations addressing the new pazking islands aze presented in Appendix A.
The drainage azound the pazking area was modified as per the details provided on Map 24. The ditch between the
current parking azea and access road was filled and runoff will be directed into Ditches D~ and G-4. The guard shack
was converted into a storage building and it is located on [he west end of the mobile equipment pazking/material storage
yazd.
In order to evaluate the existing septic system and leach field for future expansion at the mine a percolation test was
conducted. Approximately six, 4-inch diameter holes, 30-48 inches deep were augured for the percolation test.
• After the test was completed, the cuttings were placed back in the hole. Also, aneight-foot deep backhoe pit was
dug so a soil profile could be obtained. After the backhoe pit was logged it was backfilled. It should be noted that
the activity as shown on Map 24, Surface Facilities, would be within the boundary of the existing sediment control
system.
The bathhouse/office facility replaced the former bathhouse trailers, and was constructed adjacent to the operations
center as indicated on Map 24. The existing water and sewer systems were utilized for the new facility. The former
trailers were removed during the summer of 1993, with a portion of the resulting open azea becoming part of the
parking lot. Water and sewer lines from these trailers were capped and covered.
Approximately 3,000 cubic yazds of material was removed during excavation for the foundations and slab, and
approximately 400 yards of compacted backfill material was used for the foundations and slab. in addition, some 850
tons of gravel was compacted beneath the foundations and slab. No other excavation work is planned. A limited
amount of additional dirtwork included contouring of the pazking lot azea where the current administration trailer and
parking is located, and a possible widening of the access road by some 25 feet, should this become necessary in the azea
of the new bathhouse facility. The pazking azea was surfaced originally with tar-sand material, but this material has
been overlaid with asphalt, and drainage will be conveyed via the existing system.
The original building is of concrete block construction and has dimensions of approximately 200 x 75 feet.
Approximate height of the building is 15 feet. The building was placed on a reinforced spread-footer foundation
and has a reinforced concrete slab floor. In 2003, under MROI-173, aten-foot expansion to the south was
constructed for the bathhouse area only, providing an additional 1,000 square feet of locker room for the workforce.
The extension design and structure matched the existing building. The extension required construction of piers,
• footings and walls and a concrete slab. The extension itself is constructed with wood framing, insulation, and metal
exterior sheathing and roof.
MROS-195 2.05-17.3 8/24/05
