The Wadge Seam will be mined out and production will gradually decline during the last few years. The estimated <br />. mine life, based on maximum annual peak production of 10,000,000 tons, is 11 years. The actual mine life is subject to <br />extension or reduction in case of either very weak or strong coal markets, resulting in reduced or increased yeazly <br />production. <br />Productivity estimates were based on expected mining conditions and analysis of productivities at other western <br />U.S. mines. It is expected that gradient and water inflows will significantly reduce down-dip development <br />productivities. It is assumed that six continuous miners and two longwalls will be required to reach maximum <br />yearly production. The continuous miner productivities would vary from 200,000 to 325,000 tons per yeaz per unit <br />depending on location. Longwall productivity is expected to be approximately 6,000,000-9,000,000 tons per yeaz <br />per unit. <br />Labor Force <br />The Foidel Creek Mine Labor force schedule is shown in Table 47, Labor Force Schedule, Table 48, Hourly Labor <br />- Maximum Production, and Table 49, Salaried Labor -Maximum Production. The total employee numbers <br />increase from an estimated 47 in 1983, for aone-section mine, to 497 in 1992, at full production.
