~ III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII ~ - ---
999 III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
999
7~~
Exhibit R Plin ing Plan
Riley Gravel Pit
The Riley Gravel Pit was first entered by the County on the 7th
day of August, 1973, and leased for a period of 10 years. This gravel
pit was opened by the County to provide a source of sand and gravel for
County road maintenance and construction within the vicinity of the pit.
Due to the small amount of. topsoil present on the excavation site,
topsoil was not stockpiled. IJhen the affected area is to be reclaimed,
topsoil will be hauled to the site and prepared Cor the seedbed.
Gravel was excavated using dozers and front-end loaders in a northerly
and easterly direction from the south lease boundary, to a maximum depth
of 25 feet, as shoc~m on the General P~tap (Exhibit C - Stage 1). Gravel
will continue to be excavated in a northerly and easterly direction as
shown nn the General Map (Exhibit C - Stage 2). During mining, the
northern, western and eastern slopes will be nearly vertical and the
southern slope nearly level.
Disturbance for haul road construction is not anticipated as there
are no haul roads within the lease tract. Total maximum area to be affected
by this operation is four (4) acres.
No surface or ground water is present in the pit and water is not
anticipated to create any problem during mining operations.
Approximately 5,633 cubic vards of material has been excavated in
the pit since the beginning of the lease in 1973. Lt is estimated that
before mining uperaCions cease an additional 100,000 cubic yards of sand
and gravel will be removed. The perimeter of the pit teas been fenced with
a barbed wire fence sufficient to keep cattle out and will be posted with
warning signs if the area becomes hazardous to man,
The pit will be closed to public use by a gate, cable or whatever
means necessary and all refuse and trash will be removed from the pit site.
