M Idli H
MONTGOMEHYWATSONHARZ4
B J.Pellfcer Date 1-Jun-06 Client Seneca Sheet 2 012
hkd. B C.Tusin Descd Gon Seneca IIW Slo a Failure Back Anal sis and Re rode 16.1un-2006 06 9 iooa337
- Surface water that drains to the low spot in the regraded area will be directed to a corrugated
pipe half round that will be placed on the slope. This half round will transmit water off the
while minimizing infiltration into the slope which could be destabilizing,
- Assuming saturated slope conditions which is conservative, a slope regraded to 3H:1 V will have
static safety factor of 1.72 which is substantially higher than the 1.30 factor of safety required t
the State of Colorado. See Attachment 2.
Rock Slope Analysis:
A As previously stated, Roclab softwaze was used to estimate the intact sheaz strength for the rock
slopes.
- Based on mapping in the area, the overall natural slope height is 200 feet.
- The slope angle is 34°.
- The slope was assumed to be nearly fully saturated which is conservative. See Attachment 4.
- A safety factor of 2.20 was calculated for the conditions presented. This safety exceeds the
required safety factor of 1.30. See Attachment 4.
Conclusion:
The existing rock slopes that stand at 34° aze stable in their current configuration. The unconsolidate
spoil located on the upper portions of the slope will be regraded to a 3H:1V configuration which will
provide a static safety factor of 1.72.
