Rd. 27
Oak Creek, CO 80487
Dear Rocky,
Enclosed please find a copy of our report on the cultural resource inventory of the proposed
seismic lines 9901, 9902, and 9903 and the proposed core holes PDS-9901 and 9902. We
encountered three previously recorded sites, three new sites, and four isolated finds along the
seismic lines. The new sites and one previously recorded site aze all prehistoric and are located
along seismic line 9903 and a deviation in the line was proposed and inventoried. The previously
recorded site was assessed to be unevaluated at the time of original recording, and we saw no
reason to change the assessment. The three new sites were all assessed as potentially eligible.
One of the remaining two previously recorded sites is a prehistoric site located on seismic line
9902 and originally assessed as potentially eligible. Our revisitation caused us to re-evaluate the
site as not eligible. A deviation in this line was also surveyed, but due to the recommended not
eligible assessment, the deviation is not required to be utilized. The final previously recorded
site is an historic site on seismic line 9901 and was assessed to be not eligible when it was
originally recorded. We found nothing to change this assessment, and no deviation was
proposed. Two of the isolated finds are historic and two are prehistoric. They are located on
both seismic lines 9901 and 9902. No cultural resources were encountered on the core holes
PDS-9901 and 9902, or their access road. Cultural resource cleazance for the project is
recommended provided that all seismic activities aze restricted to within 50 feet of the centerline
along the deviation of line 9903. All augering activities and shot holes must remain along the
flagged centerlines and no driving may take place more than 50 feet from the flagged centerlines
except on established and maintained roads. No further is work is recommended.
Two copies of this report and site forms have been sent to Hal Keesling, BLM Craig Field Office
archaeologist. He will forward one copy to the Colorado SHPO. One copy of this report and site
forms has been sent to Jerry Nettleton of Montgomery Watson. They will submit this copy to the
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology.
(970)328-6244
FAX: (970) 328-5623
P.O.
