EXHIBIT 2 - Continued
•
• draining the permit area. These locations are: 1) Foidel ~3, on the
west bank of the lower reach of Foidel Creek; 2) Middle ~~1, on the east
bank of Middle Creek adjacent to Pit 3B South; 3) Middle ~2, on the
west bank of Middle Creek above the confluence with Foidel Creek; 4)
Middle ~k3, on the east bank of Middle Creek adjacent to the Middle Creek
Underground Mine portal area; 5) Fish 4k 1, on the east bank of Fiah
Creek upstream from Energy Tipple No. 3; 6) Fish ~P2, on the east bank
of Fish Creek downstream from Energy Tipple No. 3; and 7) Fish ~k3, on
the east bank of Fish Creek near USDA-SEA Gauging Station 1003.
The lithologic logs of the auger holes are presented in this Exhibit
• in Figure 1, Neutron Probe Access Tube Lithologic Logs. As shown, the
• lithology of the alluvium in the intermittent and perennial streams is
predominantly clay, underlain by layers of sand and lenses of gravel at
the bottom of the channel fill. The alluvium of Foidel, Middle and Fish
Creek contains all three lithologies in a graded sequence of clay at the
top to gravel at the bottom. The logs from neutron probe access tubes
and alluvial monitor wells were used to construct Map 17, Mine No. 3
Stream Channel Crosa-Sections. The lithology and layering of the
alluvial deposits, as well as the underlying shale bedrock, is
graphically depicted on this map.
The soil moisture data from each neutron probe access tube are
listed in this Exhibit in Table 1, Geophysical Soil Moisture Data.
• Readings were taken with a nuclear gauge at six-inch intervals, and are
•
