environmental impacts. Mining activities did not impact the recharge areas of the T~ventymile Sandstone aquifer
nor result in disturbance of the actual stream channel of any major area drainage, By minimizing the total amount
~f area which was disturbed, the resultant potential groundwater impacts were minimized. The overall effect on
the area groundwater hydrologic system will be dependent on the long-term hydrologic characteristics of the
reclaimed backfill areas.
The areas of disturbance are bounded by surface drainage features, which channel and convey limited runoff from
snowmelt in upland areas through the Eckman Park Mine area. Minimal stream channel disturbance resulted from
mining-related activities; no major drainage diversion channels were constructed
As noted iit the response under Section 780.11, the operation plan reflected direct sidecasting of excavated spoil
tnaterial into adjacent draws or previous cuts. This operating method minimized the area of disturbance, limited
the surface area of spoils exposed to
•
n
U
1996 Permit Ren.
