At the very least this hydrological survey should include the following:
1. A description of all of the water resources in the area of proposed operation (as described
in your Construction Materials Manual Rule 6.3.2 (c)). This description should include tests
to determine the ground water levels specific for this azea and the location of all aquifers,
wells and springs as well as flow rates, water table elevations, and water quality conditions.
Flow rates, potability and water quality should be tested on all wells within a 1 1/2 mile azea
from the boundary of the proposed operation.
2. Testing of all of the wells located at the Harvey Ranch Site (where the Parkdale Project
will commence) and of the wells located at Mr. Wooton's property (the land immediately
adjacent to the East of the proposed Parkdale Project) for potability and stability. Two of
these wells were reputedly contaminated years ago, one with cyanide and the other shows
evidence of cyanide and azsenic. Should any of these contaminants enter into the groundwater
systems due to the blasting or digging in this area there would be massive contamination of
the water sources in this portion of the Arkansas River Basin. If the stability of these
particular wells cannot be guaranteed, then we suggest that the Applicant be required to
dispose of the contaminants and bring the ground around the wells to EPA standards for
safety before commencing operations.
