Exhibit D - Minin4 Plan
Location and Setting

This is an application for a Regular 112 permit to mine clay at a site located in
Douglas County about 4.9 miles northeast of Castle Rock. The site itself is vacant
range land. The surrounding properties are vacant range land and agricultural.
Access
An existing access road serves the site and has been in place for many years.
The road is suitable to support the operation and is not included in the affected area
per Rule 1.1 (3).
Soil Salvage
Topsoil will be stripped and stockpiled for use in reclamation. The depth of the
surface soil suitable for use in reclamation, and corresponding depth to be stripped,
depends on location on site but generally averages about eight inches.
The Exhibit C map includes a simple diagram illustrating the layout of a typical
mine plan setting. In general, all stockpiling will occur near the perimeter of a
particular area to be disturbed. As a stabilization measure, soil stockpiled for longer
than one year will be revegetated. Additional information regarding the site's soil
resources is provided in Exhibit I -Soils Information.
Overburden Salvage
Overburden ranges from about five to 17 feet in thickness (average of about
nine feet) over the area to be mined. The overburden will be stripped and stockpiled
separately from the topsoil. The overburden will be used as backfill during
reclamation of the areas mined.
-4-
