Simpson, Deputy State Engineer p.~
SUBJECT: Lorimer County, Horton Gravel Pit, M-85-135, Sec. 16, T10N, R69W
As requested, we have reviewed the above referenced application to mine sand
and gravel on 41.936 acres, 17 miles north of Ft. Collins, Colorado in Lorimer
County. The applicant does not plan to expose any ground water in the
operation.
Lorimer County has provided insufficient information concerning the use of
water in the mining operation. In order for us to comment, we would need to
know the quantities of water to be used for dust control, washing, and other
purposes. We would also need to know the sources of water for the operation
and the legal right to use these water sources.
As long as La rimer County does not expose any ground water and has a legal
right to all water used in the operation (including dust control), we have no
problems with the application.
HDS/JCM:pdt/5617H
cc: Alan Berryman, Div.
