Before the topsoil is replaced and re-spread, regraded land will
be scarified or otherwise treated, if necessary, to eliminate slippage
surfaces and to promote root penetration. Topsoil will be replaced and re-
spread to achieve an approximate uniform thickness.
Based upon a review of published reports dealing with range
seeding and disturbed land re-vegetation, numerous adapted and native
species will be included in the re-vegetation mixture. The species have
been selected for their ability to become established on difficult sites
and to provide a diverse, effective and permanent vegetative cover with the
seasonable variety, succession, distribution, and regenerative capabilities
native to the area. The proposed seed mixture is:
Western Wheatgrass 15%
Crested Wheatgrass 10%
Intermediate Wheatgrass 10%
Pubescent Wheatgrass 10%
Small Burnet
ager Meadow rom 10%
10%
Sherman B' Bluegrass 10%
Ladack Alfa 5%
Timothy 5%
Orchard Grass 5%
Slender Whe rass 5%
Cicer Mil bate 5%
After the topsoil has been replaced, the affected areas will be
broadcast seeded at a seeding rate of 20 pounds per acre. If the soil
surface has become encrusted before seeding can occur, the soil surface
will be scarified or a rangeland drill will be used for seeding..
-13-
