SEDIMENT PRODUCTION, SEDIMENT POND AND DIVGRSLON REQUIREMENTS
~ Proposed Ptining Site - Weld County, Colorado
CROSS SOIL EROSION
Tlie gross suil erosion was computed by assuming that each pit area
(i.e., pits A, B and C) was sub-divided as shown below and on the nap
Page 4
North

A - Haul road and
sediment pond area
6 - Temporary re-
claimed outs lope
area
C - traded spoils
U - Ungraded spoils
E - Active Pit
F - Undisturbed area
Area A is the zone immediately to the north of the mined land and

contains haul roads, top soil storage, sediment pond, parking areas, equip-
ment storage, etc.. Area B is the temporarily reclaimed outslope and slopes
to the north. Area C is a graded spoil area that slopes to the south toward
tl~e active pit. Sediment eroded from this area will be permanently trapped
and will not enter either the active pit or area A. Likewise, sediment
from the ungraded spoils will not enter area A and only the spoil pile
immediately adjacent to the active pit will produce sediment into the pit.
This sediment contribution is accounted for in Che calculation of sediment
from area E, [he active pit area. The sediment production
