Exhibit L
• ON-SITE DISPOSAL
Clean and inert structwal demolition material generated within the Rio Grande permit azea will be
backfilled into the unreclaimed pit, along the main conveyor corridor located nearest to the plant site
(Years one and six of the Mine Plan, Exhibit D-1). This material will be buried according to the
requirements of Rule 3.1.5(9) of the CMLR Construction Materials Regulations. Approximately 45,000
cubic yards of material will be backfilled into the excavated pit. This area will remain open until all
mining is complete, and, upon final reclamation, the conveyor will be dismantled and sold leaving an
open pit with an approximate volume in excess of 300,000 CY. The unsalvageable, clean and inert
materials from plant demolition will be buried in this last remaining pit.
As illustrated by Exhibit L-2, the clean demolition materials will be placed in the bottom of the pit in
layers and compacted. A dozer will work with the compactor to break up material and fill in voids while
maintaining a level fill area. Once the demolition materials aze placed, the remaining volume will be
backfilled with a minimum of 10 feet of cover over the fill and contoured according to the final
reclamation plan shown by Exhibits F-1 and F-2. The resulting configuration will be compatible with the
proposed post-mining land use of short grass prairie and rangeland (Exhibit L-2). Because the materials
will be clean and inert, buried at least 10 feet deep, and compacted, other future land uses may be
considered as well.
•
•
1180-Mine Permit Exhibits (Ju1.03.02)FINAL L-2.5
July 23, 2002
