Amundson and Waldron:
On behalf of GCC Rio Grande, Inc. (GCC Rio Grande), I am writing to provide the
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (Division) with our response to the Division's
letters of July 11, 2002, and July 17, 2002. GCC Rio Grande appreciates the Division's efforts
in promptly reviewing the mining permit application and we wanted to write to address the
clarification requested by the Division.
The July 11, 2002, letter from Mr. Amundson requested clarification from GCC Rio
Grande whether the July 8, 2002, letter that we submitted in response to the Division's adequacy
determination letter was intended to be a technical revision or amendment to the application.
GCC Rio Grande did not intend to submit the July 8`s letter and materials as a "technical
revision" or "amendment" to the entire mining permit application. Rather, the July Sa' submittal
was a series of technical responses to the Division's adequacy determination letter of May 6,
2002 and a limited technical revision only with respect to on site disposal of clean and inert
demolition materials.
By way of clarification, attached to this letter please fmd five copies of a map and
narrative description of the change in clean and inert construction materials disposal. The map is
labeled Exhibit L-2 and the narrative description is labeled page L-2.5 for insertion into the
mining permit application. Also included with this letter is a check for $188.00 to cover the
administrative change fee.
The July 17, 2002, letter from Mr. Waldron indicated that the Division has determined
that an increase in the disturbed area from 895 to 1061 acres has occurred as a result of the
supplemental information provided in the GCC Rio Grande July 8ei letter and supplemental
application information. Mr. Waldron's letter states that GCC Rio Grande may proceed either
Tijeras PWnt
P.O. Box 100
Tijeras, NM 87059-0100
(505) 281331113312
{81089:2}
