III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
dune 5, 1978
Mr. Robert Marsh
Idenl Basic Industries, Inc.
P.O. Box 2227
Port Collies, CO. 80522
BB: Boettcher Limestone Quarts. Our file /77-348.
Dear Mr. Harsh:
Bandy Overton has asked ma to cos®eat on the reclamation plea for the
Boettcher Limestone Quarry that you submitted to the Mined Land Be.clatmtion
Board and staff. tease co®eata follow below:
1. Seeding Mixture
It appears that the eesding rates you propose are s little lorr for Bosadcast
seeding in critical and siturbed areas. In addition. technical guides in-
dicate that blue grams is a difficult grass to establish and does net spread
well. 'iherefora, we would suggest that blue grams be eliminated from the
mixture. We suggest the following seeding mixture for your consideration:
3peeiaa lbs. pure live seed/acre
Pubescent Xheatgrae• 9 lbs.
W~atarn liheatgraa• 6.5 lbs.
Side Oata Grams 4.5 lbs.
Bosnian Wildrys 5 lbs.
2. Soil Substitutes
Me suggest that the brown-colored spoil material be used sa soil substitute
for as much of the reclamation work as ie possible becnaas of Its higher
phosphate content and superior plea growth eedim qualities, rather than
using the gray-colored spoil material.
3. Grading
Ne agree that topsoil and soil substitutes should be fertilized iisraadiately
prior to seeding. Sic suggest that you reroughm the graded surfaGa prior to
fertilisation to facilitate incorporation of nitrogaa sad phosphate fertiliser
into the •oil.
