Michae~ J. Boyd •
Page 3
September 13, 1990
Plo maps on this study have been issued to the public, but are available to
(:olorado Counties and was viewed by myself at the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers office in Grand Junction by permission of Nick Mezei (303) 245-
~~547 .
Further information on the Sato study can be obtained from the Federal
Emergency Management Agency in Denver, Colorado per John Liou, Director at
(303) 235-4830.
Also, J. F. Sato and Associates, Consulting Engineers, 5898 S. Rapp
Street, Littleton, Colorado 80120.
Basically, what the Sato study states is that the 100 year floodplain
delineation in this area is at 4,596 feet.
The area that was by the 1976 Corps of Engineers study in the 100 year
floodplain is now in the 500 year floodplain and the area previously in
the 500 year floodplain is now not included in a floodplain category.
It is an unwarranted assumption by our opposition that United Companies
used an aerial photo with integrated topographic lines. Only official
FEMA recognized documents were used in our determination of the floodplain
delineation at our site.
Reclamation Costs (Exhibit L)
2. United Companies will commit to providing Financial Warranty in the amount
o~F $30,000.00 prior to commencing operations.
We trust. that we have provided satisfactory information regarding the outstanding
items.
Respectfully submitted,
UNITED (:OMPANIES OF MESA COUNTY, INC.
Paul McGehee
Sand and Gravel, Division Manager
PM/skh
Enclosures
