Place <br />topsoil near north and east boundaries o pit for future use. <br />The present permit area covers that land which is already <br />disturbed. The only expansion at this time should be in a downward <br />direction. <br />During blasting and material handling, care should be taken to <br />prevent rock from going over edges of the canyon. Unsuitable material <br />such as shale should be stockpiled, as all of it must g4 back into <br />the pit area. <br />Blasted rock faces should be stabilized by removing loose rock <br />and by leaving a bench (about 10' wide) between the succeeding lifts <br />of excavated rock. Walls should be an approximate 1J2;1 slope.. <br />RECLAMATION <br />Clean up rock and spoil material that has fallen or been dozed <br />over cliffs. This material is to be placed back in pit area. <br />Total loose material on the rock floor should be at least 6" <br />Have a soils test performed to determine the best type of <br />fertilizer. Minimum fertilizer should have 50 Lbs. of available <br />Nitrogen per acre. <br />Seed topsoiled areas with the following mixture: <br />PLANT ~LBS./ACRE (.PURE LIVE SEED) <br />Western Wheat grass 3.5 <br />Crested Wheat grass 1.5 <br />Yellow Sweetclover 1 <br />Indian Ricegrass 1 <br />Use these rates if seed is placed with drill.. I:f a drill <br />cannot be used, broadcast seed at twice the rate shown above and rake <br />into ground. <br />Seed area in late fall (Oct._Nov.). <br />Fertilize during the following Spring upon germination of the <br />plants. <br /> <br /> <br />
