Page Two

As mentioned earlier, cliffs on the scuthern boundary, whichlwe have agreed to
preserve for the Park Service, are a buffer to the south. The soil berm area
on the north side is the northern buffer. To the west there is no need for a
buffer as the west end will remain at the current elevatio sand not be cut.
The area to the east is the crushing and stockpiling are3~ and serves as
access to the main operations area.
RECLAMATION PLAN
Before mining activity was begun in 1927, in it natural state, this area
would have been very poor pasture land because f its rocky crags and cliffs.
This area has not been used for "open range pas ure" since the U. S.
Department of Wildlife bought the Beaver Creek anch for a winter range area
for wildlife.
Our reclamation plan calls for ripping the dec mposed granite, spreading the
stockpiled soil over the disturbed area, and s eding it with native seed. The
Park Service has successfully revegetated adja ent areas, and they have agreed
to assist us in identifying appropriate seed d developing a distribution
plan for revegetation.
Because the slopes will be graded as par of the mining operation, final
reclamation will be simplified and be ss expensive.
