• s <br />RECLAMATION REPORT <br />SOUTHWAY COI4STP.UCTIOtI INC. GRANGE PIT <br />This report provides recommendations for the reclamation of a pro- <br />posed gravel pit located in the NWjt NE~a Sec 9 T36N R8E in Conejos <br />County, Colorado. <br />DESCRIPTIOt~I OF Ti1E APIA <br />The pit which will be about H00 feet long by 550 feet wide, will <br />encompass 10 acres on the San Luis Valley floor. It is approximately <br />7 miles north of Capulin, Colorado, with an average elevation of <br />7725 feet. <br />The Soil Conservation Service describes the range site as <br />Mountain Outwash, which has slopes of 0 to 3A, but is relatively <br />uniform on the surface. Average annual precipitation is 7 to 9 <br />inches, with SS to 60a received between May 1 and September 1. <br />1~tay and June are normally dry, with most moisture being received in <br />July and August. <br />Range condition at present is fair with approximately 20~ grour~ <br />cover producing 300 pounds of air-dried Vegetation per acre. <br />The present species composition by ~veigtit is 702 Blue Grama, 10~ <br />Rabbit brush, 10~ Ring hhihly, 5~ I:ochia, and a trace of Sand Drop- <br />seed, Bdt$lebrush Squirrel tail, and PricY,ly Pear. <br />A brief description of the soils in the area indicate Graypoint <br />Gravelly Sandy Loam and Derrick Very Cobbly Sandy Loam. Both are <br />°bep, well drained, sandy, gravelly soils which are fairly permeable. <br />1 <br />
