EXHIBIT H S
WILDLIFE INFORMATION
The area within the proposed permit boundary consists of mainly of native weeds and pasture
grasses. The western portion of the site consist of abandoned lime ponds while the eastern
portion is pasture grass.
Seasonal use of the Big Thompson River corridor may vary by species. Migrating waterfowl
may use the area for resting and overnight stops from September through December. Various
reptiles, amphibians, shorebirds, small mammals and deer may use the area on a year round basis
for cover and food.
Current mining activities surround this proposed site. Animal residents of the area have adapted
to the current activities. As mining is proposed to be confined to specific areas to limit the total
disturbed acreage at any one time, this will help limit the disturbance to the wildlife of the area.
Following the reclamation of the area there will be additional water area. Species impacted by
the mining are expected to return to the area following mining, with a possible increase in
numbers and species due to the increase in potential habitat.
