Phase IV Weekly Summary No. 26 Page 2
Ames resumed clearing and grubbing in the Phase IVa area.
• Phase Nb
003-2203
Ames continued placement and compaction efforts of SF, west of the active crusher, for the new
LOB construction. Ames placed SF in approximately 2-foot lifs, removed oversized and deleterious
material (roots), moisture conditioned, and compacted the fill that was borrowed from the Phase IVa
slope excavation and Phase IVb local borrow. Compaction was attained by use of a smooth dnun
vibratory compactor.
Confirmation drilling occurred on July 30`h, on underground working UG-296 within the Phase IVb
area. No laterals were located in these azeas.
Remediation excavation of UG-492 and UG-313 continued during this reporting period. Both UG-
313 and UG-492 were determined by excavation to be "Shallow" workings (less than 25 feet deep)
and were remediated by excavating to working termination and backfilled with compacted Structural
Fill.
Phase IVc
Caterpillaz D10 and D8 dozers grubbed and cleared topsoil from within the limits of the Phase IVc
area. A Caterpillaz 375 track-hoe loaded 777 end-dumps with the topsoil material, which was hauled
to a stockpile west of the Phase IVc limits.
• No confirmation drilling or underground remediation occurred in the Phase IVc azea during this
reporting period.
(See Attachment A for approximate construction locations for all Phase IV areas.)
Field Monitoring and Testing Activities
Golder observed clearing and grubbing activities in Upper Arequa Gulch and Phase IVc area.
Cleazing and grubbing activities were conducted within the clearing limits.
Golder monitored SF placement in the Phase IV azea including, verification of lift thickness,
material, compactive effort, particle size, and temperature for compliance with the drawings and
method specifications. No moisture/density tests were performed on SF during this reporting period,
as material was un-testable per ASTM D698, based on laboratory testing and visual determination.
Golder observed the removal of oversized and deleterious material from the fill.
Golder observed confirmation drilling and underground working excavation in Phase IVb (full time).
Golder observed excavation and backfilling of UG-313 and UG-492. Golder observed placement of
compacted Structural Fill. Structural Fill was placed in approximately 2-foot lifts and compacted
using a smooth drum vibratory roller and/or an excavator bucket. Backfill was placed in accordance
with specification completing remediation of these workings.
aiwe rv,umiyzv.,wea m~ Golder Associates Inc.
