Ground water depth in this area varies from 90 to 100 feet. Since mining will occur in the stream bed and downward, the new banks
which are exposed as a result of mining are comprised of a soil
formation which already provides channel stability. When excessive
rainfall has occurred in the past in this area, stream beds have been
cut into the naturally occurring soil formation. Those existing banks,
as evidenced throughout the county, have proven quite stable and are not
easily eroded. The mining operation is simply extending those banks
downward at the same slope which already exists.
,~: 4.
