The Applicant's response to the Division issue about the possibility of creating a saline environment
in the pit floor was not adequately dealt with. However, changing the post mine land use to water
storage would negate this concern.
Please note that the permit files for the Idaho Creek Resource pit and the L.G. Everist, Inc. Rinn
Valley Resources pit indicate that neither of these pits is currently permitted to be lined. While the
Division agrees that during overlap of the mining phase of these three sites the potential for negative
hydrologic impact to either of neighboring pits is negligible. However, there is still the possibility of
a potential negative impact to the reclaimed groundwater ponds if the lined Camenish Borrow pit
cuts off the flow of groundwater to either of these sites. Note that the approved mine plan for the
Rinn Valley Resources pit is for an unlined lake just to the north of the Camenish Borrow pit.
Please provide a response and necessary information to address this concern.
Please feel free to call me with any questions or if I can be of any assistance with this permit
amendment process (303-866-4922).
Sincer
2L(~~~
Chris Rowe
Environmental Protection Specialist
Cc: Carl Mount, DMG
