C Similarity between the reference area and the tie across haul road area was als~~
evaluated by calculating a similarity index between the two areas. This was approxi-
mately 81 percent, which is a very high level of similarity for two distinct areas of the
same vegetation type.
CONCLUSIONS
The mixed sagebrush vegetation growing on both the realigned tie acros haul roa<i
study area and the reference area is characteristic of sagebrush vegetation growing in
this part of western Colorado. The species composition, cover, production and shrug
density value fall within the range of values one would expect to encounter in this vege•~
tation type.
Based on statistical evaluation of the cover and production data, the mixed sage-
brush reference area is essentially the same as the native vegetation growing along the
realigned tie across haul road proposed route and will be more than adequate for use in
the future evaluation of revegetation success. •
C
LITERATURE CITED
Sorenson, T. 1948.
