TABLE 22-2
IContinuedl
•
Seed Mix No. 1 B -Shrub Grassland -Haul Road Corridor and Mine Area
Seed Mix No. 1 B will be used for seeding upland disturbances along the haul road corridor and on the
Sage Creek disturbance areas. It will be based on Seed Mix No. lA with the following exceptions:
Drop: Padus virginiana melanocarpa
Amelanchier utahensis
Symphoricarpos rotundifolius
Add: Seriphidium vaseyanum -mountain big sagebrush at .25 PLS Ibs/ac
110.0 seeds/ft21
Krascheninnikovia Janata - winterfat at 2.00 PLS Ibs/ac 12.6 seeds/ft21
Total for Seed Mix No. 1 B 18.75 PLS Ibs/ac 189.3 seeds/ft21
Species substitutions will only occur when availability of any of the listed species is a problem. The
species listed in Seed Mix Nos. 1A and 16 have been selected for normally consistent availability.
However, adverse environmental conditions, poor seed production, or excessive market demand may
occasionally limit supplies. For species that have several developed cultivars, alternative cultivars will
be evaluated for substitutions. When cultivars are unavailable, regional native sources will be used.
Complete lack of availability will normally be limited to the native fortis and shrubs listed.
Substitutions in this case will be determined by reviewing the species list in Tab 10, Vegetation, and
selecting adapted and desireable native species replacements offered by seed dealers. SCC will notify
the Division with what seed mixes SCC will he able to receive from the vendor for that year. If these
mixes do not match the approved seed mix, a minor revision will be submitted immediately to the
Division for approval, prior to placing the order. Any substitutions will be noted in the Annual
Reclamation Report.
•
13 Revised 2/99
