• VEGETATION - C-C~5 <br />The affected area of lease tract C-CM-25 is a combination <br />• of two vegetative categories: rocklands and pinyon-juniper <br />woodland, as designated by the Soil Conservation Service. <br />No information was available on the rocklands site description, <br />as it is considered to be essentially wasteland, unproductive <br />as rangeland, by the Soil Conservation Service. However, <br />information was available for the pinyon-juniper (P-J) wood- <br />lands range site description. <br />According to the P-J range site description, this plant <br />association generally occures between 5,000 and 7,500 feet, <br />Precipitation ranges from 12 to 15 inches per year, with an <br />average annual temperature between 49 and 53 degrees F. <br />• <br />Pinyon pine and Rocky Mountain juniper are the dominant species <br />of this association. Occassionally stunted ponderosa pine is <br />an associated overstory plant near the upper elevations, but <br />it is not found on the affected lands. <br />Associated understory plants often found near the upper limits <br />are: <br />Mountain Mahogany <br />Indian Ricegrass <br />Mutton Grass <br />Sedges <br />Prarie Junegrass <br />Big Sagebrush <br />Service Berry <br />Cliff Rose <br />Associated understory plants found near the lower limits of <br />the P-J range are: <br />Indian Ricegrass <br />Blue Grama <br />Galleta <br />Cheatgrass <br />Fendler Three Awn <br />Rabbitbrush <br />Snakeweed <br />Fleabane <br />Vegetation cover immediately surrounding the affected area <br />may be classified as scattered. <br />No site index curves are available for pinyon pine and Rocky <br />Mountain juniper. Most stands do not reach over 20 feet, <br />although some reach heights of over 35 feet. <br />• <br />
